Supported Independent Living

Live more independently

Supported Independent Living (SIL) can help you manage everyday life at home with the right level of assistance around you.

What is SIL?

Supported Independent Living

SIL is designed for people who need regular assistance with everyday tasks while living in a shared or individual home.

The type and amount of help you receive depends on your individual needs, routines and goals, with a focus on building independence wherever possible.

Support can include

What this can look like

Support that fits into your everyday life

A place that feels like home

Help with everyday living so your home feels comfortable, familiar and set up around the way you like to do things.

Building skills and confidence

Practical assistance with routines, household tasks and daily living skills that can help you become more confident doing things for yourself.

The right people around you

We take time to understand your personality, routines and preferences when considering which staff may be a good fit.

Choice and control

You have a say in the way assistance is delivered, what your day looks like and what you want to work towards.

Connected to your community

Your home life is only one part of the picture. We can help you get out, attend activities, travel to appointments and stay connected.

Making life easier

More than help around the house

Supported Independent Living can include practical assistance with the things that keep everyday life moving, but it can also be an opportunity to build confidence and learn new skills over time.

That might mean becoming more involved in meal preparation, learning to manage household routines, building confidence with personal care or getting more comfortable making decisions about your day.

Tailored to you

Built around your routine

There is no single version of Supported Independent Living. The way it looks should reflect the person living there.

Depending on your needs, your SIL arrangement may include help with:

The focus is on creating a practical arrangement that works with your life, rather than expecting you to fit around a standard schedule.

The benefits of SIL

More confidence in everyday life

The right Supported Independent Living arrangement can give you the assistance you need while still creating opportunities to make decisions, build skills and take a more active role in your day.

At True Colours, we look at the whole picture, including your routines, goals, preferences and the people you feel comfortable working with. That helps us create an approach that feels more natural and better suited to everyday life.
