Capacity Building is about developing the skills, knowledge and confidence to do more for yourself and work towards the goals that matter to you.
Capacity Building focuses on helping you develop abilities that can make everyday life easier and open up more opportunities over time.
It can include learning practical daily living skills, improving communication, building confidence in social situations, preparing for work or study, or becoming more comfortable managing parts of your routine independently.
Build confidence with cooking, cleaning, planning routines and other practical tasks that form part of daily life.
Work on expressing your needs, making choices and communicating more comfortably with the people around you.
Explore education, training and new skills that can help you move towards future goals.
Build confidence, routines and practical skills that may help with accessing or maintaining employment.
Develop skills around organising your time, managing money, planning ahead and making decisions.
Learning something new is only part of the process. Capacity Building is also about using those skills in everyday situations until they start to feel more familiar.
That could mean learning to prepare a meal and then planning one yourself, practising communication in real social settings, or building the confidence to travel somewhere more independently.
We work at a pace that suits you, with a focus on practical progress that connects back to your own goals.
Everyone starts in a different place, so the areas you work on will depend on what you want to achieve.
Your Capacity Building plan may include:
The focus is on building abilities that are useful in your real life, rather than learning skills for the sake of ticking a box.
Capacity Building can help you become more confident in the things you do every day and more comfortable taking on new challenges.
At True Colours, we focus on the goals that matter to you, whether that means building greater independence, feeling more confident making decisions, developing practical everyday skills or opening up new opportunities around work, education, hobbies and community participation.
By working on skills that connect directly to your day-to-day life, you can make meaningful progress, take more control of your routines and have greater choice in how you want to live.
